Fire Engine

Tulare County fire engines provide numerous tools for our firefighters. It has the ability to store 750 gallons of water in our water storage tanks inside the fire engine. It carries 600 feet of 5 inch supply hose, 600 feet of 3 inch supply hose, and 150 feet of 2 1/2 attack line and one 200 feet 2 inch Blitz attack hose line. They carry self contained breathing apparatus for breathing air within a burning building or hazardous material emergencies. Tulare County fire engines also carry specialized equipment based on the community we serve. This equipment includes the Jaws of Life, Medical gear, air bags for lifting very heavy objects and more.

Water Tenders

Tulare County water tenders vary in size from 1,500 to 3,000 gallon water storage capacity. Some communities don’t have the luxury of having fire hydrants available in the areas we serve. Water tenders are used to haul large amounts of water to these areas when there is a big fire. The water tender engine unloads its water in a plastic pool (a little swimming pool) that the firefighters set up. The fire engine can pump the water from this pool so the water tender can leave to get more water.

Fire Patrol

Tulare County patrol engine would be a heavy duty pickup truck outfitted with a 250 gallon water storage tank. The role of the Fire Patrol engines is quite simple, the patrol engine must get in where the fire engines cannot go, such as narrow roads, fields, or in very swampy areas. Tulare County patrols are equipped with hand tools, medical gear, and fire hose. Our patrol engine can usually respond to non-firefighting situations such as medical calls and public service assists.
