Mission Statement:
Our mission is to serve the public, honor the voters directives and comply with federal, state and local property tax laws. This is accomplished by accurately accounting for the property tax rolls in a timely manner, apportioning tax revenue and preparing related informational reports in a professional, pleasant and courteous manner to our customers. They include: taxpayers, state, federal and local government agencies, county officials and other county departments.

Functions of the Division:

  • Administer and maintain the Auditor-related functions of the State tax law for the County’s property tax roll and the property tax levy and apportionment process.
  • Publish annual property tax rates and prepare special accounting and reporting of the County’s valuations and tax distributions to State and other local agencies.
  • Prepare Special accounting required for the following: annual buyout of Teetered tax rolls, redevelopment projects, tax increment allocation, and pre-AB1290 and Post-AB1290 pass thru calculations and payment including Tiers I and Tiers II.
  • Administer the Committee to Cancel Property Taxes formed to hear and decide claims for cancellation of property taxes and penalties.
  • Administer and implement changes to the property tax information system required due to state mandated tax law changes.
  • Reconcile and maintain the County’s 15 tax rolls including secured, unsecured, supplemental, unitary, prior secured, prior unsecured and prior supplemental.
